Each year, The Salt Lake Tribune restaurant critics (myself and others) are tasked with looking back over the past year and determining which dishes we ate rank as some of the best. Typically, our picks are derived from restaurants that we reviewed between January to December so most, if not all, come from new restaurants that have opened and won a memorable place in our minds and bellies over the past calendar year.
My four picks cover a wide variety of cuisine types and budgets and cross the valley. Two are fusion dishes (Thai barbecue and an Argentinian countryside rif) another a Neopolitan thin-crust Italian pizza and the final a play on a childhood classic. I also agree with several of the other choices too although I haven’t eaten ever single dish on this list. Now I have something to look forward to as well!
