Tsunami Restaurant and Sushi Bar recently announced that it is celebrating Eat Local Week and raising money for the Downtown Farmers Market during the month of September.

In collaboration with the Urban Food Connections of Utah, all four Tsunami locations (Sugar House, Union Heights, South Jordan and Traverse Mountain) will be featuring a Farmers Market Roll made with Anaheim peppers, shallots, heirloom tomatoes and bell peppers – all purchased from vendors at the Downtown Farmers Market with proceeds from the effort going directly to support the market.

The Farmers Market Roll is $9.99 at all Tsunami locations and highlights the produce grown by Utah farmers and distributed at the Downtown Farmers Market.

“Tsunami takes great pride in using only the freshest ingredients for their rolls, and this is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the amazing produce that is available this time of year,” explains Judy Cullen, Marketing Director for Tsunami.

Tsunami’s Executive Chef Drew Kawaguchi continues, “Tsunami always strives to buy locally whenever possible, and I’m looking forward to working with the great farmers that we have in the Salt Lake Valley to find delicious, fresh vegetables to utilize. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious rolls and we have the opportunity to financially support both local farmers and the market.”

In addition to collaborating on the Farmers Market Roll, Tsunami will also celebrate Eat Local Week on Saturday, September 8, by inviting kids to their sushi rolling classes happening at 10 a.m. and noon at the Market Kids Club booth. Chef Kawaguchi will be demonstrating how to roll sushi, and every child will be provided with their own sushi rolling mat for a hands-on learning experience. To have your child participate, simply arrive at the Market Kids Club booth shortly before either 10 a.m. or noon.

“We’re really looking forward to working with the Tsunami team, and this partnership fits perfectly with our mission to support small local farms and businesses,” says Farmers Market Director Alison Einerson.

To enjoy the Farmers Market Roll, visit any of Tsunami’s four locations along the Wasatch Front during the month of September.
