On Tuesday, June 19, Cannella’s and the Cannella family invite restaurant guests to step back to 1978 for an anniversary celebration.
The lunch hour special for that day only will feature menu items and prices from the 70s. Included on the anniversary menu is the spaghetti lunch at its debut price of $2.35–the original price when the restaurant opened 40 years ago. This deal will be offered to customers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The celebration will even include a 70s playlist of all the groovy hits of the time.
Cannella’s is one of the longest standing family owned restaurants in downtown Salt Lake City. Joey Cannella is the current owner and son of the late Joe Cannella, founder of the restaurant.
“Our customers enjoy the food and space we have created. Some have been coming for 40 years and some only when they’re in town, but they all have a certain love for the place,” Joey explains with pride as he discusses the warmth and character of Cannella’s. “The food is simple but delicious and it reminds me of my childhood and my amazing dad.”
The local Italian restaurant was built from the savory Italian meals Joe enjoyed as a child and has since expanded to lunch and dinner meals served from the original location at 204 East and 500 South.
